Mission, Vision & Values

Our Vision

We envision a generation of Princetonians who carry Jewish purpose, resilience, and responsibility into the world.

Our Mission

At the CJL, we guide students to grow through meaningful connection, inspirational experiences, Jewish learning, and a commitment to service.

Our Values

The CJL’s values enable the organization to build an environment that maximally supports student involvement and growth. Through these values, the CJL brings its mission and approach to life.

Student Ownership

The life of the CJL is shaped by students’ interests, passions, and questions. Students make the CJL happen. Student ownership has value in itself. And, it supports students to prepare for later leadership roles.

Strength Through Joy

In a world marked by uncertainty and division, we foster resilience, pride, and a vibrant Jewish presence rooted in the power of tradition and celebration. During challenging campus careers, the CJL offers students life-sustaining joy and connection.

Nimble Pluralism

We prepare students to lead with both conviction and openness. We encourage them to hold their beliefs passionately while also listening, learning, and engaging – even with those who challenge them – affirming the enduring bonds of Jewish peoplehood.

Access for All

We pursue a connection with every Jewish student, from any background, to help them explore meaning, identity, and purpose, setting them on a lifelong journey of Jewish discovery. Every Jewish student at Princeton should have access to Jewish life and to the embrace of community.

A Living Connection To, and Support for, Israel

We celebrate Israel as the Jewish homeland and a Jewish, democratic state. We empower each student to explore, wrestle with, and build their own meaningful connection to Israel.

Mentorship & Support

The CJL professional team leans into work with and support for students, particularly when opportunities arise to support students in their growth, development, and leadership. The CJL professional team is first and foremost here for students.
