In Haiti, tens of thousands of people are reported dead and the death toll continues to rise after the most devastating earthquake to shake the region in two hundred years. Schools, hospitals and thousands of homes have been destroyed and over three million people have been left without adequate food, shelter, healthcare and basic infrastructure. Thanks to our grantees on the ground, American Jewish World Service has been an early responder to this catastrophe. Since the news of the disaster broke, AJWS has been in contact with our grantees in the capital and in the countryside. Through our partnership with Konbit Pou Ayiti, Lambi Fund of Haiti, and other grantees, we are providing emergency funding for food, shelter and medical supplies to people in Port-au-Prince and the surrounding rural areas, and are ensuring that our partners are able to provide life-saving services to their communities. AJWS has been supporting grassroots organizations in Haiti since 1999 and we will continue to stand by them long after the world's attention has moved on from this most recent disaster. Please consider a generous contribution to AJWS's !
Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund, to enable communities in Haiti to respond, recover and rebuild in the wake of this enormous disaster. As the situation on the ground continues to unfold, AJWS will provide you with updates and reports from our grantees and the people from their communities. Thank you again for your support.

Sincerely,

Ruth Messinger President, AJWS |

Join Uri L'Tzedek for a College Shabbaton February 19-20th at New York University! We will gather together for a weekend of programming and learning, networking, and action with Jewish social justice leaders from college campuses around the country. Together we will explore Jewish texts relating to issues of Orthodoxy and social justice, develop social justice visions for our campus communities, and build relationships with other student leaders.
Uri L'Tzedek is seeking college students who are committed to the mission of Uri L'Tzedek: education, leadership development, and action to create discourse, inspire leaders and empower the Jewish community toward creating a more just world. This shabbaton is part of Uri L'Tzedek's college initiative, striving to develop a community of social justice leaders on campuses across the country. The shabbaton is free and includes housing, food and learning. For more information and to RSVP, please email Shoshie Sprague (shoshana.sprague@gmail.com)--Chair of the Uri L'Tzedek College Initiative.
